Please DONATE $5 TODAY to Kids with Cancer - Blogathon July 25
Every year 650 new children are diagnosed with Neuroblastoma - NB - (pediatric cancer of the central nervous system) every year. The American Cancer Society does not believe that NB is worth funding, so NO money collected by the ACS goes towards NB research. Band of Parents (my charity) was started by parents of NB children to fund the most promising treatment for these WORTHY kids. It's a mouse antibody 3f8 administered to the kids at MSKCC hospital in NYC. Fundraising for these amazing kids is my calling. I've had the opportunity to meet a few of them. These are REAL kids who deserve a chance at life! These are not just names on a page. Please help me help these children have a chance at life by donating now through July 31. You don't have to wait until July 25th! So far, we've reached $200 of our $2,500 goal. Here are 89 reasons to donate to help these amazing kids. 24 of them are now angels in heaven. Don't let their fight be in vain. I will be blogging every 1/2 hour for 24 hours on Saturday July 25 to raise $$ for these amazing kids! So far I've raised $200/$2,500 Goal. Please re-post this info on your site & DONATE for these awesome kids. Every child deserves a chance at life. To follow along with the Blogathon, go here. To see the 89 kids I'm featuring, go here. Why You Should Donate to my Blogathon July 25! 13 Reasons to Sponsor Me for the 2009 Blogathon
This will mark the 4th year I've done the Blogathon, an annual fundraiser in which bloggers from around the world blog for 24 hours straight to raise money for their cause. I will be blogging every 1/2 hour for 24 hours! Yikes! This year's 'thon takes place Sat, July 25 from 9am EST to Sun, July 26 9am EST. For the 2nd year in a row, I'm blogging for Band of Parents, a charity that funds research for a pediatric cancer called Neuroblastoma. The American Cancer Society DOES NOT set aside ANY money for research of this deadly killer, so the parents took the fundraising into their own hands. Below, I'm going to show you 13 reasons why you should sponsor me. To sponsor me, all you have to do is log in here to do so. Pledge as little or as much as you want. At the conclusion of the Blogathon, you will receive an email that takes you directly to Band of Parents to donate. To donate now, all you have to do is go here. The money goes directly to Band of Parents. It will be easier for me to track the donations/sponsorships if you do the "Donate Now" option. To follow along, bookmark this page! It would also be awesome if you put this button on your site (hint hint)!

April is Sexual Assault Awareness Month
Read this, and I hope you would be a person who'd tell someone that their drink was drugged. The following article is from ABC’s What Would You Do? Report. Imagine you’re sitting at a picturesque bar on the New Jersey shore, enjoying a drink and an appetizer, when an attractive young couple sits down next to you. You soon learn that the couple is on their very first date. Everything appears to be normal until the woman excuses herself to use the restroom. What would you do if you saw someone tampering with his date’s drink? Suddenly the situation turns ugly and dangerous. The man pulls out a capsule filled with a white powder and begins pouring the substance into his unsuspecting date’s drink. Customers sitting at the bar can’t believe their eyes; could the seemingly charming guy be drugging his date? What would you do? Is it your responsibility to step in or is it better to keep your distance? We went to Mcloone’s Pier House to find out. ( Read more... ) | | Thursday, March 19th, 2009 | | 5:54 pm |

Columbus Serial Rapist
As you may have heard by now, several area police departments are investigating a string of rapes and sexual assaults which have occurred in the Columbus area. Due to similarities in each of the six incidents, the police have determined one suspect is responsible. His victims are either single or home alone. Several were attacked while they slept. None of the incidents have occurred on campus or in the campus area so there is no need to be alarmed. However, reviewing the information below is a good idea if you live in the affected areas of the assaults, or you know of someone who may benefit from the information. The general safety reminders are good for anyone, anywhere, any time. IncidentsJune 4th at 5:15 a.m. on Drivemere Road in Hilliard : The suspect put a pillowcase over the head of a 22-year-old woman and raped her. He apparently broke in through a back door and used handcuffs and a knife. September 12th at 5:30 a.m. on Smiley's Corner on Columbus ' Northwest Side: The suspect probably entered through a downstairs window, tying up a 46-year-old woman, after putting a pillowcase over her head. He fondled and kissed her buttocks. The victim stated the suspect may have had a gun. October 1st between 4:45 a.m. and 5:00 a.m. on Wakeford Street , also on the Northwest Side of Columbus: The suspect forced oral sex on a 23-year-old woman, tying her hands behind her back and using a knife. He took her cell phone and credit cards. October 5th at 5:00 a.m. on White Cedar Court on Columbus ' Far West Side: The suspect entered through a sliding glass door and forced oral sex on a 22-year-old woman who was sleeping. When she woke up screaming and flipped on a light, he fled. The victim did not know if the man had a weapon. October 23rd (last Thursday) at 11:00 p.m. on Busch Boulevard on the North Side: A 21-year-old woman had just taken her infant into her home in a baby carrier. The suspect followed her in, showed a handgun and used an electrical cord to tie the woman's hands behind her back. He sexually assaulted the woman. October 24th (last Friday) at 9:20 pm . on King Avenue on the Northwest Side: The suspect entered through an unlocked back door, showed a handgun and struck a 30-year-old woman when she struggled. He tied her hands behind her back with yarn, sexually assaulted her and took her ATM card. Suspect Description The suspect appears to be stocky, Caucasian male, 5'6" – 5'9" tall, and in his late-30's or early-40's. On one occasion, he was wearing a white baseball cap. Another time, he was wearing a black baseball cap with the words R+L Carrier on the front and the words NASCAR17 on one side and L Racing on the other side. The writing on the cap is in white. The suspect was also wearing a dark bandana over his face. The only photographs of the suspect are from ATM machines he used after leaving the victims' homes. Please review the following photographs: General Safety RemindersAlways lock your doors and windows. Do not prop exterior doors to residence halls. Be aware of your surroundings at all times. When possible, travel as a group. There's safety in numbers. Avoid walking in isolated areas. Do not load yourself down with bags or packages which may restrict your ability to defend yourself or slow your ability to run. Keep your cell phone nearby and ready to summon emergency help, if necessary. Carry mace or pepper spray. Be familiar with how to operate it before you need to use it. Do not walk with headphones in both ears. Again, be aware of your surroundings.. Change up your daily routine. The police believe the suspect had been watching the victims before committing the assaults. If something doesn't feel right, trust your instincts. Utilize the Security Department's escort service. We will escort you to/from locations on campus, 24/7. Call us at (614) 823-1222 . Attend free self-defense classes offered on campus. If you are attacked, yell, scream and fight back. Statistics show any form of determined resistance helps break off an attack 60 percent of the time. Most attackers don't expect resistance. If you are assaulted, find a safe environment and call 911. Do not shower, wash your hands, or change clothes. Preserve any evidence you may have. Anyone with information regarding these assaults should immediately contact the Security Department at (614) 823-1222 , the Columbus Police Department at (614) 645-2437 , or Crime Stoppers at (614) 645-TIPS (8477). Information in this email was obtained from The Columbus Dispatch, NBC-4, CBS-10, and Central Ohio Crime Stoppers. | | Monday, July 14th, 2008 | | 2:11 pm |

Today's Horoscope
Think about a person who really taught you something valuable in your life, and bring that good memory to life in the present for a while. Remembering this person, whose encouragement helped you in the past, will help you keep a positive attitude today. You need to keep hanging in there when times get rough! Honor this person by being a positive and encouraging presence in someone else's life -- lend a hand or give a hug to someone who's feeling extra stress now. Writer's Block: Makeover! Or: Creepy Crawlies
I just want to clarify that I am bipolar and was between medications when this incident happened. Keep that in mind: Insects: My sophomore year in college, I was reading "Amityville Horror" the novel. On the first page of each new chapter, there was a horse fly (there's a big horsefly incident in the book/movie). Anyway, I got home from dancing at a club about 2:30 and went up to my room (at my parents' house). In explicably, there were 8 huge mother of all hugeness horse flies flying around my room! My windows weren't open, so there was no way for them to get in. I never had any in my room before that night or after. EVER! So, suddenly, I decide that I have the devil in my room because of reading Amityville horror. In my major brilliance, I decide to get the vacuum cleaner and suck the flies up with the hose. I drag the vacuum alllll the way up. My efforts are futile though, which freaks me out even more. I run down and start bawling incoherently to my mother. She gets up to see what's going on. She sees the vacuum cleaner and the flies and me. I get so upset that I run out of the house in nothing but a t shirt and undies and sit on the corner under a street lamp. i felt safer there, somehow. My mom came out and told me she'd call the police if I didn't go back inside. Eventually my mom killed all the flies with a rolled up newspaper. I wouldn't go back in my room for a week. I slept on the couch. End of story. | | Wednesday, May 28th, 2008 | | 8:23 am |
Ask She Wednesday #5!! Here's How It Works:~You ask ME a question in the comments section which I'll answer next Wednesday. ~You comment on YOUR opinion of this week's responses. ~I will ask YOU a question at the end. Post about it on your site, then link it back here. Here is last week's question to YOU answered by me: Who is your fave musician/type of music/song to listen to when you are:
Depressed, Broken-hearted, & most expresses me--Fiona Apple Anxious--Ocean waves Excited--Do Your Thing by the Basement Jaxx Happy--Any good 80s music In Love--It Had to be You by Harry Connick Jr Tranquil--My ocean sounds cd (no music; just ocean) In a dancing mood--Groove is in the Heart, or anything 80s Praising your God--Point of Grace, Avalon or Jars of Clay Nikki: If you could go back in time to change just one thing with no consequences of screwing up the time/space continuum or any of that hooey, what would you change and why?Avert the holocaust or 9/11 Alice: If you had $5,000, how would you spend it? Rules include: no charities, no saving it, no putting it towards any necessity (rent, food (unless it's like for a fancy dinner or something), gas, etc) and you MUST spend it.I'd probably go on vacations to the caribbean, walt disney world, and cape cod. Betsy: What is your favorite physical attribute? My red hair. I hated it as a child, because it brought me so much attention. Apparently there are only 2% of us left out there. As a performer, I've learned to use it to my advantage. Angela: Do you scrapbook or anything similar?I scrapbook and make collages when the mood strikes. I've also made a couple paperbag scrapbooks. Usually when I get into a creative mood, by the time I've bought all the supplies I need, I'm out of the mood. Blah. Dane Bramage: Q: If you could enact a universal law that applied to everyone on Earth, what would it be and what would be the penalty for breaking it?Any kind of molestation or rape to children would result in the perpetrator having his dick lopped off/her vagina sewn shut (or whatever) and be exposed in jail to the same abuse they inflicted on a poor innocent child. Danica: Why?Danica, you have NO idea how many times I've asked this question of myself, God, my counselor, my mom, etc. The way my mind works, it thirsts to know "why" something works the way it does or "why" it behaves that way . . . When I figure that out, I'll let you know. I've been told, though, that finding out why something is the way it is doesn't change the fact that it is what it is. Ms. K: If you had to choose to listen to ONE musician/artist/band for the rest of your life (like on a desert island), who would it be?Definitely STP. Each album greatly differs from the others, so there would be a good mix to listen to. Alex: Would you rather date a professional fisherman or a garbage man?Probably a garbage man. Heh. At least he would be home every night. The guys on "Deadliest Catch" are away for long periods of time, not to mention it's very dangerous work. Question for YOU: What is the most memorable place you've ever been? It could be a positive or negative experience that has stuck in your mind.As always, I'll answer this next week! | | Wednesday, May 21st, 2008 | | 8:34 am |
This is where I am today
In you, Lord, I put my trust: may I never be put to shame. In your justice, set me free, Turn your ear to me, make haste to rescue me. Be my rampart, my fortification; keep me safe. For you are my strength and my refuge: you will lead me out to the pastures, for your own name’s sake. You will lead me out of the trap that they laid for me – for you are my strength. Into your hands I commend my spirit: you have redeemed me, Lord God of truth. You hate those who run after vain nothings; but I put my trust in the Lord. I will rejoice and be glad in your kindness, for you have looked on me, lowly as I am. You saw when my soul was in need: you did not leave me locked in the grip of the enemy, but set my feet on free and open ground. | | Tuesday, April 22nd, 2008 | | 8:24 am |

So, since tomorrow is Wednesday, PLEASE ask me some random questions in the comments section of this post. They can be anything. Ask me the easy questions. Ask me the hard questions. Want advice? I certainly don’t know everything anything, but I’ll try and help! So, GO! | | Friday, April 18th, 2008 | | 8:50 am |
